Girl Power Day

Tomorrow(July 1st) is Girl Power day. From the official Spice Girls site:

Girl Power Day on 1st July marks the anniversary of the release of Wannabe in 1996.

Here's what Melanie C says about it:

"Girl Power means different things to different people, but for me, it's just about being strong and confident as a woman. In history, women have taken second place to the boss and the master most of the time, but we're all equal and we're all human, no matter what sex, shape, size, colour or religion we are. Just remember that! Every day of my life is dedicated to Girl Power. It's just an attitude, but 1 July is a great day to be really conscious of it. I might whistle at some builders and have a couple of pints down the pub to celebrate!"

Here's what Victoria Beckham says about it:

"For me, every day is Girl Power Day, especially being a working mum. David's often away and so I have to be a strong individual and do a lot for myself. "Girl Power is all about doing what you want, being strong in what you believe in and standing up for those beliefs. I'm working all the time at the moment, so on Girl Power Day I might make a special effort to have the evening off, get a babysitter for Brooklyn, ask a few of my friends round and have a bit of a celebration!"

Here's what Emma says about it:

"Girl Power has always meant a lot to me, even when I was younger and the phrase didn't exist. I'd never want people to think that Girl Power means we hate boys. It's nothing to do with that. It's about everybody standing up for their own rights and doing what they want to do, instead of being afraid to do it, especially women. In the past, women have thought that men could be better than them, but that's not the case. We're all equal and we're standing up for our own rights. On Girl Power Day, I'll probably hang out with my Mum and do something fun. Two Girl Powers are better than one! I've been making a few trips to my local hospital recently, so it would be nice to pop down there. And one thing I really, really want to do is go paint-balling with my brother - and get a few bruises! It would be great if we could organise it for 1 July."

Baggage Handlers Arrested

A Heathrow airport baggage handler and two of his friends have been arrested on suspicion of stealing Victoria Beckham's baggage(Story). Two of the suspects are in their 40's and the other is 19. All three have been released on bail pending further inquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Neil Guild, head of CID at Heathrow, said:

"The luggage was on a flight from Miami to Heathrow on April 16. We have been looking at this case since that date in conjunction with the theft of other luggage and cargo from the airport. We have recovered a small quantity of clothing which was in one of the cases belonging to Victoria Beckham."

Victoria's Minder Arrested

Victoria Beckham's former minder Mark Niblett has been arrested over a death threat letter recieved by the couple. This is the same man who was fired a few weeks ago by the couple for such possible concerns. He was also the one trying to write the book about his time with the Beckhams(Story). Niblett, 35, was quizzed by Scotland Yard over allegations of sending threatening letters. He was bailed out and is due to return in August. He is the man thought to be responsible for many threatening letters and defaced photographs sent to the family(Story). He was a regular baby sitter of Brooklyn Beckham before being fired.

Tell Me

Melanie B's next single from her upcoming album Hot will be entitled "Tell Me". The song is a diss and attack on former husband Jimmy Gulzar. The song attacks Jimmy and accuses him of only liking Melanie for her money. Some lyrics from the song are:

"It was the saddest day, you made me think I wasn't worth anything. Now I see you didn't have any self-esteem. And all you loved was Mel B's money."

"I can see right through you, you're the fool. I can't believe I was so blind. I didn't see that you could never be the type of man to meet my needs."

Jimmy was quickly caught up with and asked for his impression of the news. Jimmy said:

"I think it is quite an honour that she has written a song about me. She really went for it in the song. But I don't wish her ill and I hope the song is successful."

MelC On Girl Thing

Melanie C was on television show CD:UK(UK) on June 23rd and said the following about the latest British girl band "Girl Thing":

"I think it's a bit sad that their management and record company have just tried to rip off the Spice Girls. I fear for them because management and record companies are evil."

One of the group's singers, Michelle Barber, replied:

"We are getting compared to the Spice Girls quite a lot, but at the end of the day we are not them. Yes, we are five girls who have individual personalities, but that's it. We are not trying to be the Spice Girls, it's our record company who are touting us as their successors."

Victoria Beckham will be performing her new collaboration single "Out Of Your Mind" at this year's Party In The Park which takes place on July 9th in Hyde Park(UK). This is in addition to her performace at BBC Radio 1's roadshow(Story). Melanie C is also playing this show. Party In The Park is in aid of The Princes' Trust charity and includes over 28 artists performing including Mel C, Victoria, Kylie Minogue, Westlife, The Corrs, Steps, Stephen Gately, Bon Jovi, Five(with Queen), Travis, Sonique, Billie Piper, Artful Dodger, Craig David, Ronan Keating, Destiny's Child, David Gray, Texas, Christina Aguilera, Honeyz, Dum Dums, Moloko, Chicane(featuring Bryan Adams), Gabrielle, Sisqo, All Saints, and Alice Deejay. Whats New Pussycat?

Whats new pussycat, whoooaaa whooooaaaa whoooaaaaaah.. Sorry couldn't help myself, ahem.. Victoria is considering taking the starring role in the movie based on the best-selling novel What's New Pussycat? The movie is a romantic comedy set in London's modern day Notting Hill. Victoria is reported to have met the heads of film production company Tiger Aspects last week to discuss her role in the film. This film has no connection with the 1960s version starring Peter Sellers but is rather based on the book published at the end of April that has been hugely successful. It tells the story of a 27-year-old woman who turns her back on her home town of Bradford and goes to London in search of excitement. So she packs her Tom Jones record collection in her Beetle and heads south, where she falls for a wealthy TV producer. But it's not all plain sailing and Delilah starts to wonder if she will ever fit into his glamorous life-style of Dolce & Gabbana and Dom Perignon. It tells the story of a 27-year-old woman who turns her back on her home town of Bradford and goes to London in search of excitement. About Out Of Your Mind

Victoria made an appearance on BBC Radio 1 and told presenter Chris Moyles that "Out Of Your Mind"(See Below Story) will be released as a single on August 14th. On August 6th Victoria will perform the song for the station at a roadshow in Middlesbrough. Victoria said:

"We've got a great show planned. We've worked hard on it. We've got a big dance routine planned, with the guys from Truesteppers suspended in G-strings from the ceiling in cages. I like this kind of music, but I haven't done this kind of thing before, so it is a first. I've been writing my own album, but this is the first thing to be released. It's scary."

Interestingly enough "Out Of Your Mind" was played on BBC Radio 1 for three weeks before it was revealed a couple days ago that it was Victoria's vocals on the track!

Victoria Solo Material!! The rumors were true of Victoria's collaboration with Truesteppers(Story). The song she did with them entitled "Out Of Your Mind" was played for the first time on radio last night! The best rip of it is probably the MP3 at Case Music. Victoria Furious At Tell All Book Attempt

After switching body guard firms for security reasons, an ex-bodyguard which was close to the Beckham family is supposedly planning to release a tell all book about his experiences with the couple. It is rumored that the Beckhams switched security firms because this man was thought as a possible threat since he was getting very close to the family. The Beckham's allegedly had a bad feeling about him. Now the man plans to release a tell all book about his close experience with the family, details about the family, and even private photographs. A 'close source' said:

"This has made Victoria physically sick. All the Spice Girls have a history of enforcing confidentiality agreements and Victoria will do in this case as well."

Victoria Solo Single

Victoria will launch her solo music career by teaming up with dance act True Steppers for her debut single. The single will be released in August and she has already recorded vocals for the song. The single will be released under Arista Records. An Arista insider said:

"Posh Spice is going to surprise everyone by getting together with True Steppers. At one stage they weren't even going to credit Victoria with the vocals on the track because the group wanted it to remain an underground dance smash. The song will prove Victoria is much more than just a pretty pop babe."

True Steppers are an underground garage group who had a previous top 10 smash with "Buggin'" which featured Dane Bowers from Another Level. Victoria's full album is to be released sometime in 2001.

New Victoria Show

Posh Spice Victoria Beckham will soon start work on a new television special. As a follow up to her successfull Victoria's Secrets program earlier this year Victoria is planning to make a series of documentaries about the weird and wonderful shopping habits of Americans. The show is going under the working title Victoria Buys America. For this show Victoria is teaming up with Tiger Aspect Productions, who make shows like French & Saunders and Mr Bean. The show is expected to air on either BBC or Sky. According to insiders, Victoria didn't even want any money when she did Victoria's Secrets, and she has the same attitude towards this new show.

Char over at Eternal Melanie C has put up most of Melanie C's "I Turn To You" video available in a small ASF file(192x140, 14fps, 2mb). Here is a local copy of the video. Interestingly enough it seems that the single version of the song is much different from the album version. The single version seems to be(or is very similar to) the hex hector remix(Story).

The video for Melanie C's next single "I Turn To You" is starting to get some television play in some parts of the world. Allegedly the two main scenes in the video are at a night club and on the beach. Melanie is reportedly wearing some hair extensions in the video as well.

Victoria won't be going, but Melanie C will be singing her upcoming single "I Turn To You" at the next Euro 2000 soccer game this Tuesday. Melanie's official site says:

England play Romania on Tuesday 20th June and Melanie will be there doing her thing. Her performance of the new single "I Turn to You" will be televised to countless millions all over the world. Should provide some inspiration to the England players who can not afford to lose the game !

Victoria To Miss Soccer Game

Victoria was planning to attend her husband's upcoming soccer game against Germany but her husband David has told her not to attend for safety reasons. After England lost their most recent game to Portugal at Euro 2000, David Beckham was taunted and threatened by British soccer fans. The 'soccer fans' told David that his wife is a whore, that they are going to kill his son Brooklyn, and that they hope Brooklyn dies from cancer. David reacted by giving the taunters the finger. So Victoria will not be attending the next game for safety concerns. Victoria talked about the situation:

"It's hard, it's frightening, but I want to support him. I was at the Portugal match but I was on the other side of the stadium and couldn't hear much of it. I kind of try and ignore it but it is hard for me to go to the games. Everyone does things. If people are saying things like that about your family... but David has a responsibility and he knows that. He's not going out getting drunk every night. All he ever does is play fantastic football and talk about how much he loves his family. That's a good role model. David puts up with a lot. He ran around and tried so hard for 90 minutes and that's the kind of thing that happens. He went over to applaud the crowd, to thank them for coming, and that's the thanks he gets."

Jason Brown told the truth of the relationship between him and Melanie C. He blasted the stories that are constantly being put out that the relationship is fake or a publicity stunt. Jason said:

"These stories really piss me off. We've been seeing each other for three months and it is completely real. Our relationship is not a PR stunt. I would never do anything like that, what's the point? Mel C is my girlfriend. I can tell you she stayed round at my flat last night, and that wasn't a publicity stunt. We had something to eat and watched TV for most of the night. We're both northern and we both have a great sense of humor. When we're alone, she's not Mel C from the Spice Girls, she's just Melanie. She's on the same level as me. I can talk to her about anything. We are just like an ordinary couple. I know we're in the public eye, but that doesn't matter. We're just J and Mel, and that's it. We go out to eat, have a few beers and do things like that when we get the chance. Unfortunately, we don't get to see each other that often, but we try to get some time together. When we do it's great. We have a laugh. People keep saying it's a scam because we were never photographed together. The reason was because we never went out. We'd rather stay in than go out all the time. But when we did go out publicly for the first time, at Madonna's premiere for her movie The Next Best Thing, people were still going on about it being a stunt. It just fucking pisses me off. We're just enjoying ourselves. We've only been dating for three months, so it's all very early days. All I'm saying is we're a couple, and in the past I haven't really wanted to talk about it. Victoria jetted off yesterday to Euro 2000 with the rest of the England players' wives and girlfriends. Victoria defied critics who claimed she was going to snub the other player's partners because she thought she was too famous to mix with them. Dressed in a denim jacket, jeans, and baseball cap, the 26-year-old singer flew out of Stansted with the other girls to watch husband David play in England's first match of the tournament against Portugal.

The Spice Girls' movie SpiceWorld will have it's network television premiere(US) on USA Network on July 4th at 9pm. As the news submitter points out: ironically the Spice Girls are British and the movie is debuting on American television the day that Americans celebrate freedom from Britain.

MelC European Tour!

Melanie C's Official Website has announced that Melanie will be touring Europe! Here is the message posted there:

Not content with just rockin her way around the UK, Melanie is set to blast into Europe as well. She kicks off with a gig in Poland on Thurs 31st August, takes over the UK in September and moves on to Amsterdam and beyond from Sun 15th October.

There is an interview with Spice Girls in the new issue of OK! Magazine(UK)! The interview is strictly about the third album. Spice Girls reveal that they now do have a title for the new album but don't tell us what it is, that "Goodbye" will actually be included on the third album, as well the fact that the album will have about 15 tracks on it! Melanie C's Official Website will announce later this morning that there will be an additional show added to Melanie's tour this fall. The additional concert will be at Wembly Arena on November 5th. I've found that the tickets are actually already available even though the concert hasn't been officially announced yet!

Corrections

Every once in a while I goof or overlook something, so here are some corrections: Firstly I pulled the Earl's Court DVD front & back scan as they are fake. I was tired and in a hurry when I posted it so I didn't even take a close enough look at it, lesson learned. Secondly, I threw a rumor warning over the "Boyfriend/Girlfriend Clip" story as that is also very questionable as to it's authenticity. I get sent so much news, and a lot of fake stuff, some blatantly fake. I try my best to filter the real from the fake. I think the scan was one of the first fake things that made it through. What is with all the Spice Faking going on lately?

I Turn To You (Hex Hector Mix)

It's either an unofficial remix or a leaked track from Melanie C's upcoming "I Turn To You" single. I am talking about "I Turn To You (Hex Hector Mix)" which made it's way to the net a few days ago. The remix is over 10 minutes long. I was going to post news of it right away but I wanted to accompany it with a download. I finally got a hold of the puppy and let me tell you, it is one AWESOME remix! Here is the 160kbps MP3 of it for you to enjoy!(12MB)

Yeah thats right, I did just post the entire 160kbps MP3 here - you know how we do it at SpiceNews! Although it might not be up here longer then a week... or a couple days, who knows. Jason Brown, alleged boyfriend of Sporty Spice Melanie C was on Channel 4's Jo Whiley Show(UK) last night. He tried to explain the rumor laced situation between him and Mel C. J said:

"I can't say that I am not seeing Mel and I can't say that I am seeing her. I just want some time for myself. We are really good friends but I have just come out of seeing someone else on and off. I put my hands up and admit I put out a few wrong signals, for a while I steamed in there and it was full-on. But now I've pulled back a little bit, I'm not really ready for anything major yet. It's a bit of a weird situation. It's like we're friends but we keep drifting into different areas."

Victoria Beckham's wedding crown was auctioned off on the web for charity(Story), but the winning bidder who paid £40,000 is sending it back because he claims that it is too tacky. One of the auction site's webmasters said:

"The tiara was bought for his wife but she thought it was tacky and told her husband to take it back."

The raunchy dancing, pinching your bandmates' butts, the dual interpretation that people make of NBTSA. People go as far as to read the pronouns of your songs and say, "She didn't say *him*, she said *they* or *them*. You set off some people's gaydar.

Mel C: That is something that I'm not really aware of. I'm just expressing myself in the only way I know how. I've never used my music to wind anybody up. It's just an expression of me.

Girlfriends: In 25 years do you think it's possible that someone who was once a Spice Girl will come out?

Mel C: As far as I know all the Spice Girls are straight. Two are married or have been married, with babies, and it's something that we have often talked about because we all are friends. Some members of the band have had certain experiences or whatever.. But you know, I'm not really one of those people.
